Nainital is a pretty and peaceful town in hilly areas of Uttarakhand. It is flooded with tourists in the summers, springs and winters.
Here is a list of 10 things to do when you are in Nainital : (the list is random and personal.)
- Enjoy boat-rides in the Naina lake. Out of the 3-4 lakes in Nainital, Naina lake is the most famous and the most beautiful of all. A simple Shikara-ride is sure to calm your mind and make your heart smile!
2. Do some Bird-watching around the lake. You will find numerous varieties of ducks, swans, and cranes floating, swimming or wandering around the lake. They too, just like you, will be found enjoying by the lake with their loved ones!
3. Have a brisk walk around the entire lake. This is actually a must-do, if you want the get the complete feel of the place. An afternoon walk around the lake, under the charming sunlight, will fill your heart with warmth. They have paved a beautiful footh-path all around the lake, so that people can enjoy walking without any disturbance. It is also known as Thandi Sadak, meaning cold path.
4. Enjoy a hearty meal. Nainital is not an offbeat destination. It is quite famous and hence you can find a variety of amazing yet budget-friendly restaurants here. You can enjoy both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies.
5. Horse-ride to Tiffin-top point and above. The ride takes you to the mountain top, through a patch of a dense forest area which is quite close to Jim Corbett National Park.
6. Enjoy views of lakes from mountain tops. Reach any mountain top of Nainital, whether its by the horse-ride or by the cable car; you bound are bound of have aerial views of the city’s lakes.
7. Explore the local market. It has to offer the most fresh of fruits and vegetables and sweets.
8. Do some style shopping. I got this pink poncho from a shop in Nainital. You will find en-number of unique woolens and winter wear at affordable prices here.
3. Enjoy the open Rickshaw ride. Flutter around the town like a Butterfly, on these adventuroues 3-wheelers. You are sure to experience a bumpy ride on an ironically flat road. All credit to those drivers :D. It was one of my best experiences in Nainital.
10. Photograph the lake with all of its facades. The lake keeps changing its look with the slightest changes in weather. Sometimes it reflects the sunshine, some times it mirrors the blue sky and sometimes it simply stays neutral as the grey clouds above it.
